Calvin Klein Designer Photos Reviews

His early years

Calvin Richard Klein was born on November 19, 1942, in the Bronx, New York, where he spent all of his childhood. Klein was the second of three children born to Flo and Leo Stern. The family lived relatively comfortably. His grandmother was a seamstress and he acquired his love of sewing from her. His mother encouraged his love of art and fashion.

Klein attended the High School of Art and Design, which prepared students for
careers in advertising and drafting. As a youth, while others his age were playing sports, Klein was busy studying, sketching fashion designs, and sewing. Later he moved on to the esteemed Fashion Institute of Technology, graduating in 1962. He spent five years as an apprentice (a student working toward learning a skill) in a coat and suit house on Seventh Avenue in New York City, working long nights and weekends to perfect his own designs.

In 1968 Klein and close childhood friend Barry Schwartz created a Calvin Klein coat business. The first order was actually obtained by accident. A coat buyer from Bonwit Teller (a large New York City clothing store) got off on the wrong floor of a hotel and wandered into Klein's workroom. She placed an order for $50 thousand, which was a huge amount at that time. Encouraged by favorable reviews from the fashion press and the support of store executives, Klein expanded his line to include women's sportswear.

Here is a designer — a good designer — who has played by the rules of the rag trade for 22 years, enjoying small moments of critical success as they came and keeping his head down when they did not. He never complained, at least not publicly, when the spotlight moved on to designers who were less than half his age. Even in failure, he was gracious, taking pains to finish orders for dresses from his dearest customers before he shut down his business.
But he is not going quietly.
Those who have known him for long can attest that he is such a nice guy that he is about the last person they would have suspected was behind a scathing blog that skewers the industry’s most sacred cows. Until Mr. Gaskins chose to reveal himself, now that he is closing his business, as the author of The Emperor’s Old Clothes

In 1933, tennis player Rene Lacoste teamed up with one of France’s largest knitting manufacturers to produce the first ever Lacoste polo shirt. Lacoste work with the Global Environmental Fund to ensure the protection of the natural habitats of alligators. The animals hold a special place for Rene Lacoste, who was nicknamed ‘The Alligator’ during his tennis playing days. This is the reason why an alligator is part of the infamous Lacoste logo.

Representatives from the Alexander McQueen family, who called the designer to call Lee says, “Lee’s someone who appreciates and can be spent on the Isle of Skye, because he enjoys the beauty, peace, and tranquillity. It was Lee’s last request to his family; his ashes should be buried at Kilmuir.

“McQueen’s family wanted to make a special recognition for Isabella MacDonald and his family from Kinloch Lodge Hotel, which supports the sad times as an aid in great condition, making it possible for them to carry out the wishes Lee,” said the source.
Family, friends, and colleagues have been ready to attend the ceremony McQueen.
